Introduction

Quit Snus ("we," "our," or "the app") is designed to help you quit snus. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how it's used, and how you stay in control.

The short version: your data stays on your device. We don't have servers, we don't collect analytics, and we don't sell your information. Ever.

Data We Collect

All data is entered by you and stored locally on your device. This includes:

  • Quit journey details — quit date, daily usage, years used, brand, motivation, and cost per can
  • Mood entries — mood level, irritability, anxiety, focus, sleep quality, and optional notes
  • Craving events — intensity, triggers, duration, coping strategies, and outcomes
  • Usage logs — timestamps and daily counts during gradual reduction
  • Time capsule letters — personal letters you write to your future self
  • App preferences — notification and health settings

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely within the app to:

  • Track your progress and display milestones
  • Show mood and craving trends over time
  • Calculate money saved and health improvements
  • Personalize encouragement notifications
  • Power the home screen widget with your stats

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync or use the data export feature.

Apple HealthKit

If you enable the Apple Health integration, the app reads the following data:

  • Sleep analysis — to auto-fill your sleep quality in mood check-ins
  • Resting heart rate — to show heart rate trends in your progress view

We only read this data. We never write to Apple Health. HealthKit data is never stored on external servers, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. You can revoke access at any time in Settings or through the Apple Health app.

iCloud Sync

If iCloud is enabled on your device, your journey data may sync across your Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is managed entirely by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not operate any servers that receive this data.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app schedules local notifications on your device to provide encouragement and milestone reminders. These are not push notifications from a server — they are generated entirely on your device. No notification data is transmitted externally.

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If iCloud sync is active, data is encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's standard CloudKit encryption. We do not operate any servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure.

Data Export & Deletion

You are in full control of your data:

  • Export — You can export all your journey data as a JSON file at any time from Settings.
  • Delete — You can permanently delete all data from the app through Settings. This removes your journey, mood entries, craving events, usage logs, and all preferences.

Deleting the app from your device also removes all locally stored data.

Third-Party Services

Quit Snus does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not integrate any external SDKs that collect user data. The only external service involved is Apple's iCloud, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

Quit Snus is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
